WEWP-3082r.jpg - Western Wood-Pewee ( Contopus sordidulus ) - juvenile - in Gwin Canyon, Oakland, CA on July 13, 2007, by Kay Loughman. This is a very young bird (note both the downy plumage, and the gape at the edge of the beak; the one visible wing may not have reached it's full length). An artifact of the light makes the outer tail feathers appear white in this photo. ID confirmed by Ken Burton.
